We deliver Tuesday to Saturday, except there will be no deliveries between 25th-29th December or 1st – 4th January. Available delivery dates are shown once you have added your chosen menu to your shopping cart.
No. There is genuinely no commitment, subscription or catch. You are free to order one box and then never return, with no action needed on your part. We don’t believe in tying you into a contract that you have to cancel, instead we focus on ensuring that once you try a Cookaway, you’ll want to come back for seconds.
Absolutely. This is what makes us different. We only work with established chefs who have real passion for their cuisine and its culture. Our menus are not developed in a lab and they are not a miscellany of random ingredients. These are recipes with heritage, created with care as they would be in real homes.
No, all our recipes are available at all times, so you are not limited to a weekly or fortnightly menu. If you try something you love, you can come back and order it any time that suits you.
Our recipes are created by real chefs with a wide range of influences and skills specific to their cuisine. They are passionate about sharing their specialist knowledge with you so there are no mystery spice mixes or secret ingredients; a Cookaway is always a delicious and rewarding adventure.
In short, no. The Cookaway is NOT a subscription service; you can order as often or as infrequently as you like. Obviously we hope you’ll want to order regularly, but there is absolutely no commitment.
Yes, everything you need will be included in your Cookaway, including fresh meat, fish, dairy products and vegetables. Unlike many recipe boxes, we even include the oils, vinegars and other condiments you’ll need, because we think these are vital to the quality and result of your cooking.
Want to store your Cookaway for longer than a few days? We will be introducing Larder Boxes in future which contain store cupboard ingredients, so you can add the fresh ingredients when you are ready to cook. Make sure you join our

Yes, use the ‘Continue Shopping’ link on your shopping cart to add more than one menu. You can choose different delivery dates for each box at checkout.
Every menu is designed to be a full meal and includes one main dish and one accompanying dish. You have the option to add side dishes, at an additional cost, and we’ll also be adding dessert and wine options in the near future.
You can order your Cookaway for 2 or 4 people, and our portion sizes will satisfy a hungry adult. If you are feeding children or light eaters, you may find they stretch a bit further. If you want to create a real feast, you can add extra side dishes to your order.
We deliver widely across the UK, with some exceptions in more remote areas.

We deliver Tuesday to Saturday with the exception of Fish menus, which are currently delivered Wednesday to Saturday. This is because the fresh fish we buy is not available for dispatch earlier in the week.
The shortest lead time is currently 72 hours, and we are working to make some of our boxes available at a shorter lead time. We will despatch your Cookaway to arrive on the date you select at checkout, so please check this carefully. If you are ordering more than one Cookaway you can select a different delivery date for each one

If you are going to be out you can arrange for your box to be left in a safe place, and your chilled food will stay cool for up to 6 hours thanks to our clever recyclable cool pouches. Please check the delivery section of our Terms & Conditions for more information.

All the ingredients you ordered for one meal, including any side orders, wine or desserts, will be delivered in a single box. It will also include your recipe cards with full instructions. You will receive a separate box for each Cookaway meal you order.
Your ingredients are divided into three categories: chilled, fresh, and larder. The chilled ingredients (meat, fish, dairy etc.) will be packaged together in a cool bag. All the fresh ingredients (veggies, fruit, eggs etc.) will be packed together in paper to minimise bruising. Finally, your larder ingredients (spices, oils etc.) are packed in paper bags, one for each recipe.
As soon as you receive your box, please refrigerate the chilled items. When you are ready to cook, begin by organising your ingredients for each recipe. Your larder ingredients are already sorted in paper bags, one for each recipe. Some of your fresh and chilled ingredients will need to be sorted by recipe and in some cases an ingredient may be for use in more than one recipe. Read all your recipe cards carefully, especially the “Before you start” information.
Our recipes are designed for all levels of experience, and full instructions are supplied. All you need is your sense of adventure.
All our recipes can be easily created using everyday equipment and appliances. If we think you’ll need something special, we’ll make that clear on the recipe page of the website which can be accessed by clicking on the information button.
The average cooking time for each dish is shown on the menu and recipe page of the website, and also on the recipe card in your box. Speed things up by getting someone to help you with the prep - this is all part of the fun of a Cookaway.
Yes, if you lose or damage your recipe card, please contact us for a copy.
We offer vegetarian and vegan menus for each of our cuisines, plus a number of gluten free options. Any allergens are shown on the individual menu pages of our website.
Our menus are planned by experienced chefs in collaboration with our Head Nutritionist. Our philosophy is that a balanced diet is a healthy diet, so we design our menus to provide high levels of nutrients including protein, slow-release carbohydrates, fats, fibre, plus vitamins and minerals. Our menus always include plenty of fresh seasonal vegetables too.

Our meat comes from British farms that adhere to the highest levels of animal husbandry and welfare, and is packed for us by an award-winning family butcher. Our fishmonger is committed to sustainable practices and can trace our catch back to an individual boat. They also supply Michelin starred restaurants, so you know your fish will be of the highest quality.
Not every ingredient will be certified organic, but we always seek out suppliers who carry relevant best in class accreditations such as Soil Association, Red Tractor or Fairtrade.
On average across all our products, 95% of our packaging is made from natural and renewable resources. 52% is paper-based, 38% glass and 5% metal. The percentages shown above are calculated across our whole product range, so don’t worry if your Cookaway box seems to contain more or less of some packaging types.
Absolutely, 100% of our packaging is recyclable through widely available local council facilities. We don’t use any non-recyclable plastics or alternatives such as starch derived PLA (Polylactic Acid) that claim to be compostable, but for which the infrastructure does not currently exist in the UK.
Yes, we continue to research and test new packaging that will deliver your food to you in tip top condition without sacrificing the environment along the way.

It’s really simple! Choose any amount from £5 or over, enter the recipients contact details with a personalised message and we will send an email voucher to your lucky recipient on a date of your choice.
The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of delivery to the recipient.
Choose your Cookaway and add it to your shopping cart. At checkout, add the unique gift voucher code shown in your email to the promo code box and click apply.
If you are not ready to spend your voucher just yet, you can keep it safe by adding the voucher to your Wallet. To do this you’ll need to create an account with The Cookaway and go to your Account Dashboard. Click on Wallet and follow the instructions to add your unique gift voucher code. The voucher will appear as a credit on your account, and we’ll prompt you to use it next time you order.
Any of our menus. The gift voucher will be applied as a credit to any Cookaway order.
If your order value is less than the value of your voucher, the remaining voucher balance will automatically be added to your Wallet. You can view your Wallet on your account dashboard and we’ll prompt you to use the balance next time you order.
